qPCR Experience workshop: Real-time PCR applications in plant biology, Vrujci spa, Serbia, 15.-16.6. 2011
The statellite workshop of Serbian Plant Physiology Society Symposium, organized by BioSistemika d.o.o. in collaboration with National Institute of Biology took place immediately after the Symposium in Vrujci spa (Gornja Toplica, Mionica, Serbia), 15.-16.6.2011.
Real-time PCR technology is becoming a must technique in every lab since it allows for sensitive, accurate and high-throughput method applicable in various areas of life sciences, from pathogen or GMO determination and quantification, gene expression studies, genotyping etc. If you haven't mastered it yet, here's your chance. The 1.5-day workshop will be organized as a satellite meeting of DFBS symposium, immediately after the end of the symposium, and will cover real-time PCR theory, different applications with emphasis on gene expression analysis, practical advice on plant sample preparation and quality control as well as reaction setup and data analysis practicals.
After the workshop, transfer to Belgrade will be organized for the participants.
Workshop level: intermediate (basic knowledge of PCR/molecular biology required)
Workshop programme:
Wednesday, June 15 (3 pm - 7 pm):
• Real-time PCR principles and applications
• Chemistries and equipment
• Sample preparation
• Experimental setup practical
Thursday, June 16 (9 am - 5 pm):
• Primer and probe design
• Data Analysis: SDS, melting curve analysis
• Relative quantification
• Data analysis practical
• Diagnostic vs. gene expression approach
• Transfer to Belgrade (for the participants of the workshop only)
Language: English
Instructors: dr. Špela Baebler, dr. Urška Čepin
Venue: Banja Vrujci Hotel (Gornja Toplica, Mionica, Serbia)
Fee: 20500 RSD / 200 € (VAT incl.)
• Discounts: academia 20%, students (50%), groups (inquire)
• Course materials, coffee break refreshments included
